Writing and receiving letters via virtual post

I love receiving letters, cards and postcodes.

Often received; if written by someone on holiday; days after that person has returned home.

Use this space however you like as though you are writing a letter to someone with whom you relate to in real life.

You might want to say something to that person, or persons and not be given the opportunity.

Families can be so very judgemental and cause much hurt and pain.

This is a way of writing to tell someone how you truly feel; good or bad.

Just read along if this is not your style.

Carry on with your own preference of using the forums.

This is just an idea.

Sometimes we do not know that we might enjoy something different unless we try.

Writing letters can be very therapeutic and a special way of releasing pent up feelings without the person knowing.

Lastly, in writing a letter, you need not put their name or title.

You might like to address the letter as dear friend, or dear family member; dear doctor; dear psychiatrist; dear pet.

Think outside of the square and write about what you would  really like to say.

Good luck

Sophia

One more thing.

You are not going to post the letter, card or piece of scrap paper, should you choose to do this in reality.

Re: Writing and receiving letters via virtual post

Dear Friend

I have been wanting to  write to you for some time now.

I have things that I need to say to you and am worried about how to express these thoughts so as not to offend you.

I am not going to post this letter to you, therefore I need not worry.

I look forward to spending time with you days and weeks before the event.

On some occasions I am unable to sleep the night before as my mind will not stop.

I then look like something the cat dragged in the following morning. This does not stop me now from going out. This has not always been the case. You might remember me letting you know in the morning of the day that I was not well enough to go out.

I want to tell you that despite my enjoying seeing you, I do feel hurt when you talk over me.

I listen attentively to whatever news you have to tell me. I then start to speak to share my news and you interrupt without apologising; also not asking me later what it  was that I was about to say.

Whilst I realise that you are excited to talk also, the outing becomes a one-sided conversation all about you.

I am left feeling that my thoughts do not matter. Perhaps I do not matter to you at all.

Perhaps my friendship is not as important for you.

I have decided, rather than stop seeing you for now, that I will make an effort to diplomatically say. Please excuse me for interrupting but I have not yet had a chance to tell you about my latest news. This I will try at our next outing.

Hopefully this will serve to further strengthen our friendship.

If not, I shall just assume that if my voice cannot be heard, there really is no point in continuing to meet.

all the best

Sophia

ps my letters are lengthy

surprise, surprise.

😉

Re: Writing and receiving letters via virtual post

Hi @Sophia1 ,

This is a great idea! Smiley Happy

I used to have penpals back in 4th grade for an English assignment connected by our English teachers. My penpal was another 4th grade girl from the US. We kept in touch sporadically through snail mails until I was in high school. My bad, I did not keep her updated with my new home address and we lost touch.

If I were to write a letter to an anonymous friend, it will go like this..

Dear Friend,

Perhaps you are the kind of friend I am always seeking for.

One who is sincere, understanding and supportive as we journeyed through different stages of life.

One who is always there when everything else burns to the ground.

One who is still there to rebuild anew hand in hand.

One who can share the joy through the tears.

One who can remain till the final end.

I promise to always be that sort of friend.

If I were to reach out, would you please be my friend?

Sincerely,

Your New Friend

P.S. This is sounding like Winnie the Pooh and his troop, nevertheless their friendship is certainly admirable. Smiley LOL

Re: Writing and receiving letters via virtual post

Thank you all for support as I was unsure whether people would be interested or not.

I think that a few might be rather than many.

No matter.

The fact that you have read and replied is exciting for me @Lilaca

I read back over my posts including my letter and it did not read the way I had meant it to.

It sounded very stilted and I did not emphasise the fact that the letter is not to be read by others if writing to someone who had hurt you. The letter was purely an opportunity to express built up emotions. Then the letter could be tossed away.

Your response was a surprise @Lilaca as I was not expecting a letter back whether to me or anyone in general.

I would love to reply to your letter though. Would you be comfortable with that?

If your answer is no, read no further.

I will not be offended either.

Here is my reply. Just in case. 😊

Dear Friend

Thank you for replying to my letter. A lovely reply.

I should like to be a friend of yours feeling very comfortable with what you wrote.

Everything that you mentioned should come naturally.

It is not hard to meet any of the qualities that you stated.

In fact I believe that they are all parts of what complete a genuine, strong friendship that has every opportunity of lasting.

I promise to do the best that I can in keeping all of what you have said in mind.

If you were to reach out, I would most definitely be your friend without any hesitation.

Beautifully written to the very last word.

Your letter I mean, laugh, not mine haha.

As far as sounding like Winnie the Pooh and his troop, all the better.

Perhaps as part of our new friendship and ongoing letter writing, we could come up with a character name for ourselves. Or do you like the sound of Dear Friend?

I will also let you know that my letters will not arrive daily.

In  fact I cannot give an exact time frame as life does not allow too many plans to be made.

I shall certainly make every effort to log on more often and wait  with bated breath to see if my letter has arrived in the post. 😃

Then I shall write back.

😁

Sincerely responding to my new friend.

Yours

ps I love this

Re: Writing and receiving letters via virtual post

@Sophia1 @Lilaca

Dear Friend,

I am so sorry for my constant interrupting! It is not that I am uninterested in all your news, it's just that I am worried that I may forget what it was that I was wanting to say. Your friendship is very important to me and I love you xxx. Please forgive me, I shall try to be better about listening to you in future because I do value our friendship so much. If we are to be Pooh Bears' band of friends then I should like to choose Eeyore for myself. I hope that this letter finds you well.

All my love,

Eeyore

Re: Writing and receiving letters via virtual post

Dear Friend,

Thank you for reading my letter.

Now that we have 3, we can make a super trooper.

@Sophia1@Oaktree and @Lilaca

We'll surely name our group as Dear Friend. Smiley Happy

@Sophia1

Please don't be too self conscious.

Just let your emotion flow.

No judgement from the sisters.

If you're busy, I'll cheer on you from the side.

No replies required.

I'll keep you in mind though, till we're back in touch.

@Oaktree

Please don't be sorry.

For the most part, no apologies needed.

I hear your genuine call for friendship

and that is all that we needed.

You can be Eeyore, and I'll be Pooh.

Pooh has been a favourite since high school,

filling all my notebooks with sketches of the round tummy bear with red shirt.

It feels like going down the memory lane,

some of my genuine friendships were formed during my high school years.

May our friendships remain true as well. Heart

Yours sincerely,

Pooh Bear

Smiley Happy

Re: Writing and receiving letters via virtual post

@Lilaca @Sophia1

Lilaca this one is for you

Dear New Friend,

I would like to apply for position of new friend. I believe that I can be supportive and understanding and I will try and build you up when you feel as if your world is burning down. I have to warn you though that I am a little socially awkward and I find chit chat difficult but if you engage me in interesting conversation then I find that a little easier. I love receiving mail and I will do my best to return the favour in a timely manner.

All my love,

Eeyore

Re: Writing and receiving letters via virtual post

@Lilaca @Sophia1

Dear Friend,

I have plenty of honey here, would you like to come over for some? I hear that you like to exercise so that you can eat more delicious honey. Actually my best friend is a bee keeper so I always have a good supply of pure honey.

All my love,

Eeyore

Re: Writing and receiving letters via virtual post

@Oaktree & @Sophia1

Dear Friend,

I am certainly feeling the genuiness from each of you.

Each matters to me,

just as I would be to you.

@Oaktree

No application is neccessary,

you are one of us already.

If you feel awkward,

I would never notice.

If we never notice,

then you need not feel awkward.

If you give me a tag,

I shall response with a tag.

Conversation is as easy as a tag.

No worries about timing,

anytime you are free.

I'll be there as long as you tag me.

I am feeling my big tummy.

An invite for exercise shall be lovely.

Too much honey is never good for the belly,

I shall learn to be busy as the bees.

It will be nice for a visit,

but now we shall settle with letters instead.

May you always remember our pen friendship.

Your Pooh Bear,

Always.

Smiley Happy
