I hate that I have mental illness

I hate that I have mental illness, that I suffer with this.

I have a partner and we're engaged.

We moved to Melbourne because he got work, but he left that job because when we moved here we had alot of problems. From being scammed by someone online pretending to be a owner that had a rental here in Melbourne, to my partner being hit by a drug addict at  a halfway house, it was apartments for temporary stay till we got permenant place. It was organised by community group. So we been moving quite abit, when first arrived, we organised airbnb [location removed by moderator], it was pretty nice, we stayed there about 3 weeks. Then we had to move to the half way house.

We finally got a place [location removed by moderator], it studio, where the bedroom is in same room as the lounge.  The unit is okay, but it not that great I liked the airbnb more better.

His got another job interview on Tuesday.

The kitchen is complete mess, we haven't had hot water for 4 days due to the gas connection, real estate said there red cap on the meter that need to be lifted. We told the gas company they lifted but still the pilot light is the problem in the hot water system. gas company said they will send technician out today or tomorrow, hopefully soon.

Re: I hate that I have mental illness

Hey there @TinTin1 ,

That sounds so hard. I'm sorry you have been through the wringer. After reading your post, it sounds like this have not gone to plan whatsoever.

Do you have any supports in place?

I'm sorry to hear that your mental health is suffering as a result of everything. It sure sounds so hard.

I hope you are able to find stable accomodation and your partner gets a job soon.

Please know you are not alone here.

Re: I hate that I have mental illness

Hi @TinTin1

That sounds rough, I'm sorry you're going through that.

I find it really hard to have to battle with dumb admin like getting things repaired/fixed, dealing with landlords, etc while also struggling to just cope day by day. And then it creates what feels like a cycle.. problems cause admin, which cause problems, etc etc. You should be proud of yourself though, because while I understand that its agonising to deal with this stuff while in pain, you are still doing really well.

When you say your kitchen is a mess, what exactly do you mean?

Oh and congratulations on your engagement!

Re: I hate that I have mental illness

Hi tyme,

Thanks for replying. When I read you response, I felt it abit more better.

I have started to get Support Coordinator she good. She organised for me to meet this guy who specialises in Psychological issues, but I'm looking for some other agency.

I'm looking to study in Business soon at a university but it certificate level, I don't know if this is right course for me to do. With answering phones, I'm not too good with it, I struggle. But when I was growing up I had low confidence. So I had hard time answering the phone.

But I was studying business at tafe when I was in Perth, the Lecturers said I was doing well. When I was adolence I was studying in office administration course, I drop out then went to work 3 months contract in data entry job. Maybe I stayed in the course it would have boost my confidence.

Re: I hate that I have mental illness

Put it this way... it's a good time to find a job that suits you @TinTin1 . People are looking for workers in many places.

It sounds like confidence plays a big part. I'm wondering if you can speak to someone about working on developing your confidence.

It's also good to have support for your mental health. I really hope things work out for you. I'm sorry you have had such a rough introduction to Melbourne.
